Our Great Caper

We pranked the Colony!

If you’ve been keeping up, you might know that The Colony is showing LABYRINTH as part of their Cool Classics series. Unfortunately, they picked March 19th, four days after my due date.

So Cristin and I have been lobbying for them to move the date. Sadly, they haven’t budged. On Wednesday, we went to see The Great Muppet Caper and we decided to practice a litle civil disobedience. We took these clever little signs that Cristin made and hung them in the bathroom. Cuz we’re crazy like that!

Cristin came over for dinner on Monday night for a Bowie movie-fest, sort of. I was thinking we’d watch the DVD commentary on Labyrinth, but instead we watched several of the “making of” docs.

And then I ran around for like an hour copying some CDs for her while she played on the computer and entertained the cats. And then we watched the first 30 minutes of The Hunger, which is not really very good, not to mention we watched the ancient VHS copy-of-a-copy I own that is very bad quality. But we got to see cute, young David Bowie in the shower scene, so woo-hoo for us! We were up too late but it was fun indeed!!

I made us dinner, sauteed chicken with a lemon-rosemary sauce served with rice and scalded green beans. Yummers!

And Cristin brought over some awesome and chocolatey ice cream cupcakes from Maggie Moo’s. I ate two because I am unstoppable.

And the cats seemed content to amuse us with their funny sleeping positions.

Baby Gifts

We’ve started getting baby gifts!

This is the first gift we got for the baby, from a co-worker. She took great pains to say the name several times - it sounds funny!!
It’s a lovely, soft blanket in bright colors from IKEA. Yay!

Barnslig Prickar

Then Cristin gave me Toby socks!!!!! What can I even say? LOVES!!!!!!!

And my friend Alba sent me this adorable fleece poncho from Colombia, along with some soft fuzzy socks for me and coffee for Dave. She thought of the whole family, I’m impressed!

And last, but totally not least, is this ADORABLE sock-cat from Ali. 1) Whoever thought to make a sock-monkey in cat form was SMRT. 2) I think someone’s going to have to start giving me synonyms for “adorable” at some point in the near future.

Thank you all!!!!

Science Fiction Double Feature!!

Had a great time at the Rocky Horror with Cristin and Kerri. Lots of crazy insane people out, especially because it was the Friday prior to Halloween. You can see the pictures at Cristin’s photo stream (start here) but here is my favorite.

These two had terrific Hot Fuzz costumes - they nearly won the Costume Contest. I was trying to get them to look like they’d arrested me but they actually seemed uncomfortable with that.

And here’s us girls!! Damn we’re cute!

There are more great pictures so follow the link above to see all of the action shots from the film, not to mention the boy who looks like David Bowie at 15!!

What a fun Friday night I had! Cristin came over after work and we decided it was good enough weather to attempt to recreate the back cover of Ziggy Stardust. It took us over an hour to get ready and we were so dolled up by the time we left the house! We headed up to Brier Creek for the photo shoot as we needed one of those red British telephone boxes. Imagine our dismay when we discovered that the damn doors don’t open! What? Why?!?!? I was so annoyed I was laughing.

Regardless, we looked hot. So we went to Champa for sushi dinner. Yum.

After dinner, we met up with Kerri and went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. More on that to come!

Labyrinth Manga 1
Currently reading Labryinth manga, courtesy of Cristin.

It’s really lovely. You know how you want to read more Harry Potter, but you don’t want to read fanfic or some lame substitute for the real thing? Well, Labyrinth is sacred ground. You wouldn’t want to see a Labyrinth II so much, would you? OK, if we’re being honest here what you really want to see is if what should have happened did happen, but that’ll never happen so… meh.
My point is that this is really good! It’s a lovely continuation from the perfect point of view and with all the little added touches that long-time fans will want to see. I finished Vol. 1 last night and I’m reading Vol. 2 now. Thanks, Cristin!
