Comments on: recovery and changes https://www.iheartdavids.com/blog/2008/04/20/recovery-and-changes/ It helps me to say these things aloud, I think. Sun, 27 Apr 2008 22:38:58 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.2 By: Happy Friday » Body image https://www.iheartdavids.com/blog/2008/04/20/recovery-and-changes/comment-page-1/#comment-1609 Sun, 27 Apr 2008 22:38:58 +0000 http://www.iheartdavids.com/blog/2008/04/recovery-and-changes/#comment-1609 […] Jeni just posted about her 7 week post-baby-body. I am here at 5 months post baby. I weigh only about 5 pounds more than I did when I became pregnant (hooray btw! making progress!), and yet I think I look much heavier than the 5 lb difference. First, my belly area is simply, well, flabby. Second, my arms are just huge and fat, despite the 20 lb weight (and more with the car seat and stroller in and out of the car..) that I carry around all day. I’ve recently started walking more, and sporadically done some situps, pushups, and weight lifting, but I know nothing will really change until I become more consistent. Part of me doesn’t care – like I’m just trying to do SO MUCH in my day to day life, worrying about my weight is like, well, who cares! But it does bother me. SIGH. But apparently not enough to really commit to doing something about it. Here is an article from babycenter on the subject. One quote from the article: “..the post-baby tummy — ‘this bulbous tire around my middle,’ another complained — is what really seems to blow most moms away.” […]

I wish I knew some kind of magic trick for having no clothes that fit, but I’m basically in the same place! I find I have major weight swings for no apparent reason, and I must have lost some weight recently, because my pants fall down.

For what it’s worth, I probably have some clothes in the large pile of “things that fit me 30 lbs ago but don’t now” that might work for you. Seconding the black pants recommendation, and heads up that the Goodwill on Hargett St. has a ton of new things from Target for like $3.39 per.

That said, I sincerely hope you know that you are VERY beautiful, in the ways that show on the surface AND what you find when you dig deeper.

Now, I’m going to go have a beer. You do the same!
xxoo Stew

But seriously, buy a pair of black pants that fits (don’t look at the size number, cut it out when you get home if you want) you can wear them every other day if you want and no one will be the wiser.
and also, you are so beautiful! and i love you!

It’s a weird transition period. Getting a couple of pieces for this odd time is OK. I think it’s just part of the journey.

I have several stretchy skirts you can borrow. I never wear them. We should get you some tank tops and shrugs for over them. Target has that sort of thing on sale. I feel like you can continue to use that after you’ve had several more walks;) I love you and think you’re beautiful.
